Scholarships Mortar Board at the University of Arizona
The University of Arizona chapter of Mortar Board National Senior Honor Society is proud to offer a number of different scholarships and awards. All forms are due to the CSIL office by 5:00 p.m. on the date listed. MORTAR BOARD SCHOLARSHIP Established in 1983, the scholarship is awarded annually to an individual who most exemplifies the qualities that Mortar Board demands of its own members; namely, outstanding scholarship, leadership, and service to both the University of Arizona and the community. Both men and women with sophomore standings are eligible to apply for this scholarship. The award may amount up to $1,000. JODY WINN-ODEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP This award was established in 1984 in memory of Jody Winn-Oden, a pre-medical student and member of Mortar Board National Senior Honor Society, who was tragically killed that year in a car accident. Both men and women with junior standing pursuing a pre-medical curriculum or majoring in nursing are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Selection will be based upon the availability to convey outstanding character, leadership, and service, as well as the display of sincere dedication to the medical profession. The award may amount up to $1,000. MORTAR BOARD HALL OF FAME AWARD Each year we seek to recognize one female member of the University of Arizona Faculty who has demonstrated leadership, promoted high standards in the academic community, and has contributed outstanding service both to students and the overall welfare of the University. Please take the time to nominate one female member of the UA faculty who exemplifies these traits. 2010 WOMAN OF THE YEAR CLASS AWARDS While currently comprised of both men and women, Mortar Board National Senior Honor Society was originally an all female organization. Because of this, the members of Mortar Board feel that women on college campuses should be individually recognized for all their efforts. Therefore, Mortar Board Class Awards are given annually to women in the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes who exhibit excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, and service. |
